New for 2025 – Roaming Around the Rhine!

We will be based at the Maritim Hotel, Cologne, for 4 nights bed and breakfast accommodation.

The view from your cosy hotel room has a great deal to offer: from your window you can take a look in the animated lobby, the historic Cathedral, or the Rhine and its promenade. The free Wi-Fi  (up to 6mbps) allows you to enjoy the best internet entertainment in your room.

Experience the hustle and bustle on the Rhine promenade, visit the city’s landmarks and stroll through the historic Old Town – in our hotel in the heart of Cologne, you’ll be right at the centre of things.

Day 1 :

  • 6.00am – Coach departs Taverham
  • Local pickups en route
  • 12.00 noon – Dover/Dunkirk Ferry Crossing
  • Mid-Afternoon – Arrive at hotel
  • Evening – Free time

Day 2 :

  • After breakfast the day is your own, you will be given your bus passes today and will be able to explore Cologne completely topless! The open top buses depart from outside the hotel, and run regularly around the City.

Day 3 :

  • [Time TBC] – This morning we walk down to meet our boat.
    • The boat tour will take us on an hour tour of the Rhine around the city of Cologne. The onboard commentary will offer a great insight into the city and how the river has played a part in the city.
  • [Time TBC] – Coach departs Cologne and heads to Bonn.
    • Bonn is one of the oldest cities in Germany, founded by the Romans, the city is a stunning example of the mixed influence of the Rhine.
  • [Time TBC] – Coach departs for the hotel

Day 4 :

  • [Time TBC] – Coach departs for Düsseldorf
    • We head north along the Rhine to Düsseldorf, the capital of the Northern Rhine region. Düsseldorf sets trends – it’s the fashion capital of Germany with more than 800 showrooms presenting the latest designer and couture creation. The famous Königsallee is lined with exclusive boutiques and then there’s the Old Town with its laid-back vibe that has attracted unconventional fashion boutiques and numerous alternative stores to take up residence here. Not to mention the abundance of pubs, clubs and bars that has earned Düsseldorf Old Town the nickname of ‘the longest bar in the world’.

Will I need to register my trip into the EU in the Entry/Exit system (EES) and need an electronic entry Visa waiver (ETIAS) for a trip into the EU?

The EU Entry/Exit system is currently scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024. If it has launched before your departure date all travellers* will need to have applied online.

 

The EU ETIAS visa waiver scheme is currently scheduled for launch in mid-2025. If it has launched before your departure date, all travellers* will need to have applied online and have the 3-year ETIAS visa waiver entitlement in place.

 

*travellers with UK-issued passports – EU visa and entry requirements may differ for travellers for travellers with passports issued by other countries.

 

It is the responsibility of all travellers to have the necessary arrangements in place at the time of departure.

Do I need travel insurance for this trip?

Yes – travel insurance is strongly recommended for this trip. IC Travel does not provide travel insurance and it is each travellers own responsibility to have suitable cover in place before departure

What are the restrictions on taking foodstuffs into the EU?

If you travel to the EU from a non-EU country, you are not allowed to bring any meat or dairy products with you. You can however bring a limited quantity of fruit and vegetables as well as eggs, egg products and honey. Restricted quantities of fish or fish products are also allowed.
