Join IC Travel as we head to the west of Ireland for our 7-day/6-night break.

Our itinerary will include :

  • Overnight dinner and bed stop at the Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon (outward journey)
  • Return Ferry Crossings from Holyhead to Dublin (breakfast included on both crossings)
  • 4 nights Dinner, Bed & (Full Irish) Breakfast accommodation at the River Island Hotel, Castleisland
  • The River Island Hotel is located at the heart of Sliabh Luachra, a part of Ireland that is known and respected for its love and contribution to traditional Irish music and dance.Centrally located in the vibrant market town of Castleisland, journalist Con Houlihan once described his native Castleisland as “less a town, than a street between fields’’. Known far and wide as the ‘gateway to the Kingdom’, Castleisland is 10 miles from Tralee, 15 miles from Killarney and 5 miles from Kerry Airport.Hotel Package includes: – One free drink (glass of wine, beer or soft drink) per person with dinner on each Evening and nightly entertainment (eg quiz, bingo or other activities) and one night traditional Irish entertainment in the bar. (Note – The hotel does not have any bedrooms with walk-in showers; all bedrooms are shower over bath)

Dominated by MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, savour 100 miles of spectacular scenery as you travel along the narrow coastal road of the Iveragh Peninsula. The journey begins at Killorglin, home of the world’s oldest market, the famous Puck Fair, through Glenbeigh. Continue through the villages of Rossbeigh and Kells, with their beautiful golden beaches to Caherciveen for lunch. Travel through Waterville and Derrynane, overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay to Caherdaniel, hometown of political hero Daniel O’Connell. Continue through Sneem, a quaint town.

  • 9.30am, – Coach departs hotel
  • 11.00am – The most popular way to learn about the town and its lakes is to take a Jaunting car ride with Tangney Tours (included in your tour price). The Tangney family has been running these excursions from the centre of Killarney for five generations. The tour runs through the Killarney National Park and along the edge of Lough Leane to Ross Castle. From here catch the “Lily of Killarney” to cruise across the lake (included in your tour price), a memorable way to view the surrounding mountains. Back in town for free time before returning to the hotel.
  • 4.00pm – Coach departs Killarney for the return to the hotel

  • (Time TBC) – Coach departs hotel for a full-day guided tour The Dingle Peninsula. Made famous by “Ryan’s Daughter, the Dingle Peninsula offers some of the wildest natural scenic beauty in Ireland. Travelling west, we make a stop in Tralee where you can learn the roots of Kerry history with a visit to the fascinating ‘Kerry the Kingdom’ Museum (not included in tour price). Head on along the edge of Tralee Bay to follow a circular route around the most westerly tip of the peninsula. Where at Slea Head promontory the Blasket Islands come into full view. From here try and spot Dingle’s most famous resident, “Fungi” the Dolphin.

Will I need a passport for this trip?

UK citizens and EU nationals may travel to Ireland with official photo identification (including a UK or EU passport) : https://www.ireland.com/en-gb/help-and-advice/practical-information/visas-and-passports/

Citizens of other countries will require a full passport and possibly a visa – please see the information at the link above.

A valid passport, photographic driving license, International Student Card, government issued photo ID card, health insurance/social security photographic card, photographic bus/train pass or EU Citizen Identity Card will be accepted for travel on ferries.

A birth certificate will provide adequate proof of identity for children (17 years and under with no photographic identification) to travel on ferries.

Do I need travel insurance for this trip?

Yes – travel insurance is strongly recommended for this trip. IC Travel does not provide travel insurance and it is each travellers own responsibility to have suitable cover in place before departure

We only store the last 4 digits of your card number after a transaction has processed in case of any subsequent query.

If you choose not to pay by card, your booking will be held as an option for 7 days from the date and time of your booking – if payment has not been made within this time it will be cancelled automatically. If the trip sells out we reserve the right to cancel option bookings sooner but will contact you before doing so.

Online bookings (regardless of payment type chosen) are our preferred method as they are completed and places reserved immediately, 24 hours per day.
