MATINEE PERFORMANCE
Overview
We visit the beautiful Kilworth House in Leicestershire where we will enjoy a fabulous 3-course lunch in The Orangery before seeing a fantastic production of Anything Goes.
Built in 1880 the Orangery Restaurant at Kilworth House Hotel is a magnificent example of Victorian architecture. Painstakingly restored to its former glory the Orangery has become a destination venue in its own right β light, bright and airy by day and glitteringly romantic by night. Guests can dine here beneath the Orangeryβs ceiling of glass, timber and ornate wrought iron. We have our 3-course pre-show lunch in this beautiful setting – the lunch menu will be available, and choices can be made, on the day.
The Kilworth House Theatre is the brainchild of owner and Producer Celia Mackay. Opened in 2007 with 17 performances of The Pirates of Penzance this unique theatre is set in a beautiful wooded glade close to the lake in the grounds of Kilworth House Hotel in south Leicestershire. This stunning open-air theatre is dedicated to producing and presenting large scale professional musical theatre and was recognised in the national press as one of the Best Outdoor Theatres in the UK.
Against the stunning backdrop of Kilworth Houseβs iconic open-air theatre, this dazzling new staging promises high-energy choreography, unforgettable tunes, and all the glitz and glamour of Broadway. Lee Proud is back once again as director and choreographer, bringing the hilarious classic Anything Goes to life, with the same creative team that brought you 42nd Street, Singinβ in the Rain, and Hairspray.
Get ready to set sail on a voyage of romance, comedy, and toe-tapping entertainment!
Set aboard the luxurious ocean liner S.S. American, Anything Goes is a madcap musical comedy brimming with mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and high-seas hijinks. When nightclub singer Reno Sweeney boards the ship bound for London, she finds herself entangled in a tangled web of love triangles, disguises, and outrageous schemes involving a lovestruck stowaway, a debutante, her eccentric fiancΓ©, and a gangster posing as a minister. With its witty dialogue, dazzling dance numbers, and a score packed with Cole Porterβs most beloved songsβincluding βI Get a Kick Out of You,β βYouβre the Top,β βFriendship,β and the show-stopping βAnything Goesβ
Thereβs a special aura and magic about open-air theatre on a beautiful English summerβs afternoon, so what better way to experience that magic than amidst the magnificent surroundings of the Kilworth estate, enjoying a professional production of a standard rarely seen outside the West End of London.
